About Ed

Ed Carley is an energy policy expert based in Denver, CO. In his day to day work he focuses on preventing the worst impacts of climate change by engaging in advocacy before public utility commissions in the intermountain west region of the United States. His career has been focused on energy efficiency policy and reducing energy use in the U.S. building stock, promoting energy affordability for occupants and businesses, supporting the uptake of distributed energy resources, increasing the resilience of buildings, reducing air pollution and energy waste.

When he is not at work, you can find him spending time with his family, snowboarding, riding a bike, behind a camera, or lifting weights.

Ed was a 2015 Environmental Defense Fund Climate Corps Fellow and in 2019 was the recipient of that organization’s William K. Bowes Jr. Award for Leadership. Ed received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science and International Relations from Appalachian State University and a Master of Sustainability Management from American University.
